Black And Proud at The South Galleries

This is Black And Proud, a 20×16 inch acrylic and oil pastel painting on paper. Black And Proud will be in The South Galleries in the Royal Star Arcade in Maidstone in Kent which opens on Friday the 3rd of October.
Very exciting! :-)

I called it Black And Proud because black cats are so often overlooked in rescue centres. So unfair because black cats are beautiful! So full of colour in that lovely dark fur. Our boy Harry (the model here) was rescued from the snow one winter and we have never regretted inviting him into our lives.

He’s painted with a knife in acrylics and then finished off with oil pastel to add extra colour and broken texture.
