A Commissioned Cat PaintingSweetpea
acrylic on paper The Initial IdeasSweetpea is a beautiful brown Burmese cat who sleeps in some wonderful positions! The photos of Sweetpea gave a good idea of her colouring and her personality. She's a very photogenic cat!
I loved her belly up pose and so did her owner Ally. We decided that she looked wonderful belly up on the soft cream fur throws that she loves so much.
The Painting ProcessSweetpea was painted on William Turner fine art watercolour paper using watercolour, and acrylics. I started by blocking in very soft colours in the background and then building up layers of colour in Sweetpea.
Even though she’s a brown cat, there are lots of colours in her fur; reds, browns, golds, greens and violets. And the cream throw she’s lying on has shades of gold and rose and violet in it too. The Finished Painting
