Daisy – Maine Coon Kitten Painting

May 22nd, 2013

A pretty Maine Coon kitten; this is Leonais Daisy Mae Duke at 7 weeks old. She’s just the prettiest little thing!

How could you not be inspired by such a face? Louise of Leonais Maine Coons breeds the most gorgeous cats  (serious kitten porn – the most beautiful kittens you’ve ever seen). I asked if I could paint Leonais Daisy Mae Duke and here she is. So completely adorable but no painting can capture the real beauty of the kitten herself.

Burmese Demon Kitten Painting

May 4th, 2013

This is Martta, a Burmese kitten. Isn’t she amazing? She’s clearly a cat of great character. I loved painting her, it’s such a wonderful pose with her paw outstretched and her claws sunk into the sofa. And that little face!

SOLD

It deserved to be a large painting. I’ve painted her as a 16×12 inch painting, so she’s larger than life size. With the wonderful colour of the background, those warm pinky reds, the painting has quite an impact.

Thanks to Kati from Kissmollin cattery for letting me paint her.

Annabella – A Burmese Cat Painting

April 27th, 2013

This is Annabella, a stunning Burmese cat. Isn’t she just amazing? Her colouring is so pretty and delicate, she was quite a challenge to paint. She is a tortoiseshell and her creamy coat has blue/lilac tones in it. But against that lush, red background her coat really seems to glow.

The reds were a difficult part of the painting. There are several reds from cold, blue reds like Alizarin Crimson to bright, warm reds like Cadmium Red.

This is a large painting, a 20×16 inch oil painting on board. Here’s a close up …

I’ve loved painting her for Kati from Kissmollin cattery.

Old Blue Eyes

April 23rd, 2013

A painting of Ming, my snow Bengal cat. He has the most lovely blue eyes and this profile shows them off to good effect. As a bonus he’s wearing his bling collar. I know it’s over the top but I couldn’t resist it. :-) Against the warm dark backdrop he seems to glow.

A Somali Cat In The Sun

April 4th, 2013

Muffin loves to sit on her gold cushion in morning when the sun streams in through the window. The sun really lights up her coat and she watches the world go by. It must be roasting with all that long fur but she seems very happy. She’s a Somali, like and Abyssinian but with long fur.

Here’s a close up of her face. her eyes are really gold in colour but in this light they look green.

She was painted with a knife in oils on a 10×8 inch board. It was a lot of fun getting those gorgeous gold’s and reds and oranges in her fur. Here’s a close up of the knife work.
