Sparkle is a Ragdoll cat who looks totally blissed out laying on the bed. This painting is a 22×18 acrylic on canvas board commissioned by her owner Vikki.

This painting was wonderful to paint. The underpainting is full of reds and violets and with the blues of the bed covers over the top it makes the colours glow and they look rich and luscious. Sadly that doesn’t come across in photos.

This is an acrylic painting on canvas of Taz, a Maine Coon youngster sitting in the bathroom sink. I had painted this before on paper but wanted to develop the painting a bit further. I’m pleased with the way he turned out. I painted the wall behind him as a black marble with a shimmering gold  iridescence going through it and it gives a wonderful effect, sometimes black and dark and sometimes greeny gold when it catches the light.

This is Chloe. She’s laying on the step enjoying a hot summers day and the feel of the heat in her fur. The sun lights up her beautiful coat and fills it with rich reds and gold’s that set off her tortoiseshell markings so well.

She’s painted in acrylics on Fabriano Pittura paper. 

The first coat was a coat of iridescent gold medium and that shows through the subsequent layers of paint making her fur glow with the gold of the sun. This only shows from certain angles and is quite subtle but the photo gives an idea of how it looks.

This is Taz, a lovely young brown tabby Maine Coon cat who lives with Jayne and his other feline pals in Manchester. He looks wonderful curled up in the sink, especially with those amazing eyes gazing up at us. This is the sketch of the painting I’m planning to do of him.

And here he is finished. I painted him in acrylics on Fabriano paper. He is a 16 x12 painting. I love this pose and his wonderful face and I might paint him again as a large canvas.

Angus is a beautiful fluffball of a cat who lives with Morag and Spooky. His stunning green eyes look like jewels and that amazing fluffy coat is so very soft. He’s a friendly and inquisitive cat, which is just as well, as everyone wants to cuddle him.

I wanted to paint him gently emerging from the background to emphasize his soft, long coat.
