Maine Coon Cats

Blanket Bunnies – Taz and Lilah

December 19th, 2012

My latest painting, this is Taz and Lilah. Don’t you love their expressions as they peek out from under the blanket? Such a gorgeous pair of friends.

This image may not be used in any way whatsoever without the written permission of the artist.

Amazing but true, that hardest part of the painting was the blanket. It took me quite a while to get it right. Although I’m not sure I did get it entirely right.

If you live with a magnificent Maine Coon you are truly blessed. Big, beautiful , and affectionate, they are the gentle giants of the cat world. Charming and very good looking with that spectacular tail. You might need an extra sofa though, they take up a lot of room! This is a celebration of Maine Coons and some of their longhaired friends.

A Basket Of Maine Coon Orange!

October 23rd, 2012

I did a painting of one of my favourite feline friends a while ago. This is Teddy and his amazing tail! I have finally got around to making a print of the painting.

Basket Of Oranges - Maine Coon Cat Painting by D Laurent

The painting was inspired by Van Gogh. I saw Basket Of Oranges at an exhibition and was stunned by the wonderful colour. Teddy was the perfect model to try to capture that wonderful contrast or his orange coat against a blue backdrop. With his love of sitting in baskets any still life would end up with a cat sitting on it! And he’d be much more beautiful than the oranges anyway.

Prints of him are in the Fluffballs Gallery.

The Royal Whiskers

April 3rd, 2012

The delicious Miss Honey Bun. Only Maine Coons of the very finest royal blood have spectacular whiskers like these! So I felt she needed this rich, luscious royal red background to really bring out the beauty of her glorious good looks. And the lighting not only emphasises those amazing whiskers but it adds a warm, honeyed colour to the scene. Very appropriate for Princess Honey. :-)

And of course it’s a wonderful excuse to indulge in one of my favourite things to paint, a black and white cat on a red background. How lucky am I? Here’s a close up of the painting…
