Cat care leaflets from Cats protection
October 14th, 2011
These are a good idea! Cat care leaflets from Cats Protection. The vet guides especially.
We had a cat who suffered from FLUTD, a condition that causes blockages in the urethra and it can be fatal for male cats if a vet doesn’t get to it in time. Luckily we knew the signs and Solly got the right treatment when he needed it. But sometimes people don’t notice the cat is having problems in the litter tray, especially as cats can be very discrete. There are signs to watch out for though. He might be washing more than usual or maybe peeing or trying to pee in the wrong place (like on the bed). Does he seem to be straining but not producing very much? The poor boy is having problems but the humans are just not noticing or worse, dismiss it as ‘bad behaviour’ when in fact he needs help. Some cats get to the vet too late and die from this! So if you see your cat straining when he pees, or washing himself a lot more than usual take him to the vet and get him checked!!!!
That’s why I think leaflets like these are a good idea. :-) Here’s what they say….
“To help you take care of puss, we have two sets of cat care leaflets aimed at improving people’s understanding of cats and their care.
Our Essential Guides and Veterinary Guides leaflets should answer all your cat-related questions, helping you look after your feline friend and are available to download for free.”
