Ozzy - Portrait of A Snow Bengal
March 2nd, 2006
This is a large acrylic commissioned painting of Ozzy, a Snow Bengal. He’s standing in a field of bluebells and forget-me-nots.
The canvas is pinned to a large board and the first underpainting is done. Then I start on building Ozzy’s form.
As Ozzy takes shape I move over to the background and start on the layers of colour that make up the bluebells and forget-me-nots. I want to keep the background very loose and soft. Then back to Ozzy for the final development. It’s nearly finished.
Here’s the finished painting stretched over 20 x16 stretcher bars and varnished. Click the image to see a close up of the canvas.

Hi Denise
You’ve done it again what a wonderful painting, so realistic the cat could be standing in front of you.
Well Done!!!

Denise,
As ALWAYS — You’ve captured the true intensity and given “LIFE” to the work. I know Ozzy’s owner (or should I say SERVANT) must be THRILLED!
I haven’t seen anyone else’s work that captures the expressiveness of their faces, and brilliant wild beauty,as you do.
WOW!

A very talented person to be able to capture animals that are so realistic. You can almost hear the cats purr.

Well folks, several people have asked if there will be prints of Ozzy. I don’t normally do prints from private commissions but Fiona, Ozzy’s owner, has very kindly given permission for a limited edition print to be created of Ozzy so that other people can enjoy him too. So I’ll have prints of him soon.
