You Called?
April 4th, 2006
This little painting of a pretty Tortie cat. As she walks along she hears something and looks back over her shoulder. Perhaps it’s a tin opening? Tortoiseshell cats have such beautiful coats, there are so many colours in their fur. This cat, Twinkie, is no exception.
I started by building up layers of paint on watercolour paper gradually adding colour to her coat. Blues and violets in her dark fur, shades of green appear where the grass throws colour into her coat and then lovely rich yellows, golds and oranges in her bright patches. She has bright green clear eyes and a red collar.
In the background the grass is full of colour with every shade of green from bright grass green to dark cool greens in the distance.

Another beautifully done painting of Twinkie. I am honored you chose to paint her and I know she would be too if she only knew. :)

Ah! But your torties are the most beautiful of cats! It’s easy to get a good painting when any of them are models. :-)
