Catitude Project

I’ve been painting small paintings of cats with bags of catitude! My boy Salt has a big selection of disapproving looks and he inspired me to capture his disapproval in paint. I’ve met many fabulous cats and I’m having fun capturing them in the catitude project. Most of the paintings are 6×6 inch oil paintings, although some are larger.

Don’t Mess With Me

Salt has a good line in stern looks to keep the humans in line. This is his ‘don’t mess with me’ face. Sadly for him we find it adorable so it doesn’t quite have the effect he’s after. He is a 6×6 inch oil painting in a shadowbox frame. He is in the shop.

Gold Gesso

Just getting ready to start on some more catitude portraits by preparing acouple of boards with gold gesso. It is hard to photograph but lookslovely in person. This is one from earlier this year, this is Max ongold gesso. You can really see how it shines in the light.

International Cat Day

A celebration of catitude! It’s international cat day today and I thought it would be fun to see some of the catitude project paintings I’ve been doing this year. I’ve been lucky enough to paint a great cast of feline characters and here are 9 of them.

A recent commission, Maddie is a pretty tortie cat with gorgeous blue eyes on a lilac background. Her colours are wonderfully soft, greys, creams and a gentle ginger. So beautiful. I loved painting her.

Essie

This is Essie. She’s a tabby with lots of ginger in her and I think it really suits her. She’s relaxing and just looks up at us to see if we are going to disturb her. We aren’t of course! She is one of the catitude portraits.

Callie

This lovely cat is Callie. She has such a pretty and complex coat, with soft greys and blues against creams and orange, so lovely. With her pink nose and green eyes she was a joy to paint. :-) This is one of my catitude portraits, a 6×6 inch oil on board.

Angel

This is lovely Angel looking like the perfect model. I think she’s more of a super model don’t you? With that lovely far off gaze she has posed purrrfectly. Just gorgeous. I loved painting her. This is a 10×8 inch oil on board.

This beautiful act is Ashley. Her colouring is so unusual and delicate, I really enjoyed painting her. It’s a great pose too, Ashley is a natural!She is one of my catitude paintings.

Chase

This is the very beautiful Beak. Isn’t she a gorgeous cat? I love her titled head and wistfull expression. She looks so much like our girl Smudge too. The burnt sienna background really sets of her colouring don’t you think? This is another catitude portrait, a 6×6 inch oil painting on board.
