A little experiment with Buster 🐾

I bought myself a set of gel pens and decided to try them out while sketching Buster, a bengal cat. I’ve never used them before.

They’re such fun… bright, colourful and perfect for a bit of enthusiastic scribbling. I really enjoyed loosening up and just playing with his markings.

Then I added a watercolour wash to the background… And lo and behold, gel pens aren’t entirely waterproof 😼 The colour bled softly into the wet wash, completely unplanned, but rather beautiful. It gives the whole piece a slightly wilder feel, which seems very fitting for a Bengal. I loved it.
