Black Cat Moon
The moon is up, the leaves barely stir, and somewhere in the darkness a black cat is watching.
At first she seems almost part of the night herself. But then the light catches her, a flash of purple in her coat, a little pink warmth beneath the black, and glints of gold and copper sparkle along her edges.
I wanted this painting to be about that wonderful way black cats appear and disappear in the darkness. Never simply black, but full of hidden colour when the light finds them.
And, of course, she knows perfectly well that the night belongs to her. ![]()
