Black Cat Profile – Sold

Black cats are never just black.
I’ve lived with quite a few black cats over the years, so they’re one of my favourite subjects to paint. Their fur is full of hidden colour, blues, violets, warm browns and reds, and I love watching those colours emerge and blend in watercolour.

This is only a small portrait, but even in profile there’s so much character in that watchful eye and elegant silhouette. Her whiskers are scratched through the paint.
