Portrait Of Blue

Blue has such a wonderful presence. With his handsome, lion-like face and all that glorious fur blowing in the wind, he looks every bit the rock star. There is something wonderfully dramatic about him, especially with those striking green eyes looking out through all those soft greys.

This was a lovely commission to work on because there was so much character to capture, not just in his face, but in the movement of his fur and the way he holds himself. I wanted the portrait to feel strong and full of personality, while still keeping the softness and beauty of his coat.

The painting was created on board and then float mounted in a white shadowbox frame. Leaving a little space around the artwork gives the finished piece a lovely sense of depth and makes the portrait feel almost as though Blue is sitting within the frame rather than simply behind it.

He really is a very special cat, and one of those subjects who seems to command attention the moment you look at him. 💚🐾
