Beach Buddies

Beach Buddies definitely wandered a little off piste, but sometimes those are the paintings that are the most fun to make.

It started with the idea of a very cool cat enjoying a sunny day at the seaside, complete with sunglasses. Then somehow a tiny mouse companion joined him, and suddenly there was a whole little story happening.

I had great fun painting the reflections of the beach in his sunglasses, the loose, colourful tabby fur and all those wonderful whiskers. Behind them, the sea and sunshine add that lovely feeling of a warm summer day when there is nowhere else you particularly need to be.

As for what these two have been doing, I’m not entirely sure. They certainly look very pleased with themselves. Perhaps they’ve found the best spot on the beach, perhaps they’ve been exploring, or perhaps there is a picnic just out of sight and they know exactly where the snacks are hidden. 🍓🏖️
